Subject Tutoring
Our tutors help students in American History, Global History, and European History, as well as in social studies courses like macroeconomics, US government and politics, and comparative government and politics. We help students work through everything from assigned reading, to exam prep, to essay writing. Our team members supplement the resources students receive in school with a variety of study aids and other materials. Students leave their sessions with sustainable habits they can use long after they finish working with a TSNY tutor.
Research and Writing
We help students develop and refine skills critical to success in history, social studies, and beyond. In addition to helping students with specific research and essay assignments, we also allow students to meaningfully build research habits, organizational skills, and essay-writing approaches. We break writing and research assignments into smaller-scale, repeatable processes, moving from low stakes writing activities to high stakes ones. By outlining, free-writing, and developing research plans, students improve their grades while gaining a better understanding of the underlying material. Our students head into future coursework, whether in high school or college, with the skills they need for sustained success.
AP Subjects and Exams
We cover a wide variety of AP social studies and history exams, including AP US History, AP European History, AP Global History: Modern, AP US Government and Politics, AP Comparative Government and Politics, AP Human Geography, AP Art History, and AP Macro and Microeconomics. We prepare students for their end of year AP exams, and support students as they complete their AP coursework. Whether students need to better master specific concepts, or sharpen their their organizational skills, study habits, or essay writing skills, we’re here to help.
